Dear forgotten blog,
I am sorry I have placed you on unpaid leave. To be honest I had every intention to keep this going, even through the summer. But then we left town and the listicle I scheduled to publish never did and then one thing led to another and I kinda realized that I am loving this time off. In all fairness if you dear blog had a Siri like my phone does you wouldn’t be in this predicament. Because it’s not like I don’t have anything to say. I do! Obviously I am a female so I have plenty to say. I would love to dictate it to you so you could post it for me but you keep insisting on making it difficult. Like having to log in and type and link and publish. It’s summer, nobody has time for that!
So many fun things happened since I stop updating you. We spend a lot of time in the backcountry without shower or vegetables and we survived. We went to Portland and realized it wasn’t that weird after all. We went to Canada and never heard anyone say ‘ey’. We stayed home and did nothing. Little J informed me he has a girlfriend in the class and is enjoying the summer away from school and her nagging. Bruce got bigger, Max got slower and my husband grew an epic beard. I met Frank. He is rough and smells like coffee and I like to spend time with him in the shower. My husband approves. At some point I even got a sunburn while reading a book on the porch. Yes, an actual book, with covers and all. From the library. Which believe it or not I even finished reading! It’s been a treat summer so far.
But best is yet to come my dear blog so I will continue to neglect you further. I double triple promise to be back in September and post the forgotten Listicle the first Monday. Until then, stay cool like fish in the pool.
A year ago today The good Life blog begun.
I planned on throwing a big party and tell you all about my blogging experience so far. But as I was cleaning up my comments I realized I should let spammers do the talking, since I have been deleting them all year long. Today allow me to answer them:

Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a really well written article. I will make sure to bookmark it and come back to read more of twitter . Thanks for the post. I’ll certainly comeback.MSN still exists? Well blow me down…
Thank you all for being my bloggy friends. I heart you big time. Take the rest of the day of, I know I am.
I feel like the time has come for me to come clean.
Blogging is hard. Not because I run out of things to say and photos to post. Not because it is an enormous time suck that takes most of my evenings, day after day. Not because it is the least paid job in the world. Which it is!
Blogging will connect you. All of the sudden you will have hundreds of friends who are talented and share their lives with brilliant posts that are well worth visiting. You will read, laugh, ponder, comment. You will look forward to checking their blogs. Through them you will meet others…
And most of these new found friends will host a link up. A great one too. To share your content. To inspire you to write about an interesting topic, to give you the opportunity to enter a writing or photography challenge, to help you with a prompt when you are low on ideas, to make it simple for you to put together a post when you are running out of time, to share your favorite joke, recipe, shoes, memory, pins…
This is why I find blogging hard. I want to play along. I DO! I see a great link up and think “I must remember to participate”. But with my Monday Listicles I burn out. And I am sorry. Not linking to my friends memes gives me that awful feeling, like when my son nags me to play hungry hippos right in the middle of me draining pasta from the hot pot. I want to, but we also have to eat.
I sat down to write about some of the posts I enjoyed reading in January. As I started looking around, copying and pasting I realized I will not be going to bed before midnight yet again. That I will feel like rubbish for not including everyone I want to.
So please forgive me. Know that I read your blogs. That I comment on maybe half of the ones I read. That I enjoy spending time in your company, reading about your life. That sometimes when you share something I can relate to it helps me thorough a rough day. That I find myself often thinking about stories I read or planning to take a photo you inspired me to.
These are some of the link ups I would join every week if it had a hundred days :
