Monday Listicles

I am sure you have on occasion wondered if I am upper left enough to claim my blog name: Northwest Mommy.

Clearly I live in the Pacific Northwest so that helps. But there is more to being one of us then rain, coffee drinking, flannel wearing and indie music singing. And even though I think I am as Northwestern as a girl can be, one can never reinvent herself too often. So today we embarked on a new adventure as a family. We became geocachers. Two hours of hiking and three caches later my son is as pleased with himself as can be. And the day you see me wearing socks and Birks you will know I am officially the most PNW mama alive. Watch this space!

Thanks to Phoebe for this weeks topic. Next week is Lisa’s choice:

Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!

10 OF MY HUSBAND’S BIGGEST PET PEEVES

1. Being inconsiderate to others.

2. Hidden costs.

3. People that knock on your door unsolicited.

4. Telemarketers.

5. Automated customer service centers.

6. People that don’t have their minds made up as they wait in Starbucks line.

7. People that mistreat their pets.

8. People checking out at the 15 or less items when they clearly have way more.

9. Slow left lane drivers.

10. Stepping in dog poop cause someone was too lazy to pick after their pet.

I thought for a second that I was gonna be first this week, which is funny because when I sat down to write a Listicle tonight I figured I’d be working on last week’s topic. How does anyone go to Starbucks and not know what they want?

lol …sometimes I get up to the counter and have a brain freeze…I am all ready to order, and then the board distracts and overwhelms me for a minute and I start second guessing.

Starbucks does like to try to distract you with lots of shiny new options. I just put my head down and order the same thing, lol. Unless it’s holiday drink time…then I have to stay away or it’s peppermint mocha overload!

You will find out soon enough, but I got the wrong prompt up for today’s post. *sigh* Oh well, at least I am participating finally. That being said, I will tell you right here my DH #1 pet peeve and that’s stupidity. He has NO tolerance for people who do stupid things. Thanks for hosting and here’s hoping you have a blessed Thanksgiving!

People who mistreat animals really irritate me…they truly don’t deserve to have a pet if that is how they are going to act. I can’t stand when people act like their companion is such a burden…don’t have the pet if you’re not willing to care for it. Every time I read about animal cruelty, I get enraged…especially since I lost my dog last year and I’d love to have another pet. I don’t look at the animals as property – they are living things that deserve care and respect as a breathing, feeling creature.

Oooh! Slow left lane drivers. Yes! Especially if it’s the carpool lane. I go there so I can bypass the regular traffic, not so I can go slower than them! Oy!

I hear my own husband’s voice with many of the listed pet peeves!

I certainly wish geocaching had been around when my children were young…I’m sure we would have had great fun with it! Maybe with my grandchildren someday!

I lived in Seattle from the time I was 12-16. I think living there at that time of my life created a bond with that area. I can’t help but think of it fondly. Especially on cold early mornings here in California. I looked up the Geocatching website and suggested it to my sister who loves that sort of thing. Unlike myself, she spent 22 years in Seattle. Thanks for the suggestion.
