This is it

I have decided to finally go on a diet.

Since I started blogging I have grown a few jeans sizes. And now that I have actually outgrown all my jeans I am forced to do something about it. Because nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Because I owe it to my son to be healthy. Because all my clothes is too darn cute not to be able to wear again. Because I want to be pretty and attractive again. Because I want to be able to zip up my riding boots. And wear my fancy ring. And run without being out of breath. I want to look like my old self. I want to feel like my old self. I OWE it to myself.

I have my 90 day food plan. I pumped the tires on my bike. I will eat well and exercise and believe. I can do this!

It has been an hour since I started this 90 day diet and I am ready to sell my kidney for a latte and a scone. Wish me luck.

PS: I can think of at least 134571 things that taste better then skinny feels.

Joining Bianca cause I quoted an unknown author ( probably too afraid to admit to saying thin is better then chocolate) and Stacey, since this is hour one of my diet.

You know what, Stasha? Don’t try to go all or nothing. You’ll make yourself miserable. Just try to cut back. Go get a latte, but choose skim milk. Have a scone, but not every day. You know what I’m saying? It’ll never work if you’re miserable. This is what I’m trying to do!

You are very right. But my personality is a bit all or nothing. I have no self control whatsoever. Once I do this 90 diet program I will try my very best to go by your advice. If I did to begin with I would never have gotten myself into this predicament…

Once you start to see the lbs start to shed, you’ll be even more motivated. Skinny feels awesome when you step on the scale (as long as it’s going in the right direction). And don’t completely deprive yourself of foods you love. Cheat sometimes. Then you’ll be less likely to fall off the wagon!
    Good luck!

My pinterest board has this whole body exercise chart that is a really good workout. when I have 1-15 minutes I do it. sometimes I even do it twice! (yes, that would mean I cheated with chocolate :)

Good luck, you can definitely do it! You have a pretty active lifestyle anyway (from what I can tell), so from cutting out the bad food (argh I hate calling dairy ‘bad’ but it is) and carrying on with your life as you know it, will make a huge difference.

LOL, I agree. I’ve always thought that about that saying. Like at any given time, I could think of about a million things that taste better than thin feels. At least for the millisecond that they are on my tastebuds. Of course, when they make their way to my thighs, they don’t taste quite as good…

I just want to say something before I post my views on this…
YOU are already gorgeous, attractive, beautiful, stunning…. do I need to go on??? I can if you like :)

But seriously, it’s so much more than your weight or size that makes you such a beautiful person. Beauty is about the way we live our lives, the way we look at life and the way we respond to the good, the bad & the ugly. I understand the need to look your best (don’t all of us women??), to be healthy and to be able to keep up with active kids. I have always been blessed with great genetics in that area… I come from very lean stock BUT there were a few years where I gained a considerable amount of weight (for me) and I hated how I felt. It was around the time I was diagnosed with my heart condition & was told I had to stop doing exercise that was stressful to my severely damaged joints (another genetic inheritance… gotta take the good with the bad). So because my heart was at risk & my joints too, I had to stop the regular exercise I was doing and slow it down to walking only but I didn’t reduce my food intake… I went up a few jean sizes over the space of 2 years and I couldn’t wear everything like I used to.
I went back to healthy eating and lost those extra 12kg (26.45lbs)… I also stopped drinking cappuccinos & hot chocolate.
I got to my goal/healthy weight relatively easily BUT then a new guy started at my workplace, and his behaviour was far from decent. I was his PA and he decided I was his next victim for workplace harassment (he has a history)… my weight then plummeted to a very low level for my height. I finally resigned after almost losing my life due to my low weight affecting my heart. (not sure why I added that part except it was a part of my weight loss journey). My Cardiologist forced me to gain some weight… it has taken 3 years to gain those 5kg!!

I guess also my whole outlook about weight and size has changed dramatically over the last few years… you see my youngest suffers anorexia… I believe the legacy of being deserted by her Dad at such a young age and never feeling she was loved, worthy, accepted etc (even though she knew she was by me and her family) and that the only way she could be beautiful & feel acceptable was to be skinny (she wasn’t overweight)… and so we are now about to enter our 4th year of her journey. So… there is my story of weight loss, and what really makes one beautiful.

Sorry for the essay… but I guess the bottom line is that you are gorgeous no matter what!!!!
(I hope none of this sounded negative in anyway as that certainly wasn’t my intention)

Thank you Liz. I can only imagine.
Gaining weight is so much harder then loosing it. And with both gain and lost we often don’t realize it is needed until we have to for health reasons.
I remember loosing weight when my grandpa died. Sadness and loss of appetite seem to go hand in hand. I hope you and your pretty girl are nothing but happy from here on!
Years ago when I used to fly I watched Oprah show in my hotel room. I never do so I remember that one so vividly. She had a guest doctor and he said there is a huge difference between overall weight gain and midsection weight gain. I even then wanted to loose a few pounds because every 20 something thinks she should. But after watching that I looked at my flat tummy and thought “hey I am curvy, but I have no ‘bad fat’.”
Well since we moved to US I have gained one fifth of my overall weight!! The funny think is when I dress it is barely noticeable. So I hide it well. But as I type this I can feel my tummy rolling out of my pants sitting down. The bad fat. The one that causes heart conditions. The one that seems to be the epidemic of our generation.
As much as I know that not eating in the evening when working and cutting out all processed food would do the trick ( easier said then done in US cause there is nothing on supermarket shelves without corn starch and other awfulness) , it will not work for me. I have no will power. So this 90 day strict menu from back home in Europe is my only option. I hope it cleanses me and my taste buds of all the bad habits and puts me back on track. I am not dreaming of looking like did when I was 20 and parading in a bikini. But I do hope not to have to choose my clothes based on what hides my muffin top ;)
And writing this post gave me an ultimatum. Cause once it is on the web everyone knows I promised to loose weight :)

For me, it’s so much easier if the tempting stuff just isn’t in the house. I won’t buy it and fill the house with healthy meal ingredients and snacks. Then it’s either that or go hungry! :) Well, that and I read up on how awful it is – makes me crave it less. Ha!
