Yesterday was the first day of Spring. Gray whales are back, feeding on the side of our island. Trees are blooming, my weeds are back to growing. Dog and horse are shedding. Little J is going to bed a bit later. The day is longer. I am nervous about wearing short sleeves.
I think there is no going back. Even here in the Pacific NorthWest there is hope that winter is coming to an end. I for one am ready. Bring it on!
Bonus:
Little J’s friend C came to visit yesterday. He told me this morning: Mommy, she told me it was the first day of spring. I told her she was wrong. It was the last day of winter.

From all that I’ve read lately it seems exactly what Spring is doing in parts of the country that don’t have perpetual summer. Lovely quote. Your son is precious.

In my native town in Bulgaria there is annually held contest on March 21st – “Miss Kyustendil Spring”. This is a tradition where we choose the most beautiful girl, symbol of spring and fertility. The event has both pagan and christian elements, combined with contemporary art.

That sounds like fun Margarita. As long as they don’t sacrifice the girl at the end
I come from SLovenia and we still have a lot of pagan traditions. It is important and shows nations heritage!
Oh, Little J…Happy Spring!

I love it – with a laugh and a shout and a hand full of flowers. I also love the “I told her she was wrong, it was the last day of Winter”. So sweet and so well written (and I love the beautiful photo too!).

Spring is a place I wish I could live year round. There’s such a feeling of renewal and hope! Summer and it’s long hot lazy days is fine, but looking forward to it in the Spring is the best of all.

I never much cared for spring as a kid because it meant the end of skiing season. But now I love it for the same reasons you do.
It feels like we have had spring since December here. I do love the quote you chose. What a word picture!
