Shot three times

Turning four, among other things, requires a check up.

We were scheduled this Monday.

My sarcasm got the better of me so when Little J asked if doctor will give him shots I said: Only if you are a good boy.

After the check up we went to the immunization room.

In walks my son, all excited, announcing he has come to get his shots.

Nurse: I will give you two in left arm and one in the right.

Little J: But I want a hundred of them.

Nurse: Let’s just start with three. This may hurt a bit. Can you count?

Little J: Sure, until 23.

Nurse: OK, start counting.

Little J: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Nurse: All done. Did that hurt?

Little J: A bit.

NUrse: OK, count again.

Little J: 1, 2, 3, 4.

Nurse: All done. Only one more to go, in the right arm. Count again.

Little J: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Nurse: That’s it. You were very brave.

Little J: THAT HURT!!!

Nurse: I know, I am sorry buddy.

Little J: I AM NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN. I DON’T LIKE GETTING SHOT. AT ALL!

My boy took those shots like a man. He did not shed a tear.

On our way to the car he said to me ” I am glad only the well behaved kids get these, don’t think naughty kids could handle them.”

LOL this reminds me of the time I took all 4 kids in for check ups and they all required shots. The nurse asked them to take turns standing outside while one child came into the room. When we were done one of the other nurses showed me a picture she snapped with her phone. When each new child would go in the rest of them would stand at the door with their ear to it listening for their brother or sister!Such a priceless moment I had forgotten until now!

Good job, Stasha! You captured a great moment. I like the fact that you documented his response about naughty kids being unable to handle it. Priceless stuff. The picture is excellent, too. Good job, Mom! (Great job, Little J!!)
