It all begun back in the olden days, before I blogged or had a very posh camera or Instagram was even invented…
My son started painted oil paintings.
He painted one at two years old, one at three and one just before he turned four.
Last week he asked for a new canvas to complete his quadriptych ( his favorite number is four as you all know. )
As soon as it arrived he went to work.
Today we decided to hang them.
I laid them out to what I thought was the best grouping, but the artist disagreed.
And arranged them the way he wanted.
From top left, clockwise:
Mess made by a tornado (Little J, 2010)
Tornado (Little J, 2011)
Mess made by volcanic eruption (Little J, 2011)
Erupting Volcano (Little J, 2012)
I am so proud of him.
And the fact that he spend most of the evening sitting under his art work makes me think he is rather proud of himself too.
Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.

What a talented young man! I absolutely love these. As you know, I love art, and this just made my day. I think I ought to do something like this with my girls and hang them up too. Thanks for the idea!

What’s nice with this kind of activity is that kids are able to improve their skills and creativity because through drawings and paintings, they can bring out what is hidden inside them.

Thank you for this. I’ve always wondered where to get a blank canvas (not wanting to go to Michael’s and buy canvas and board because of the lazy gene that continues to worsen). My girls see completed ones in Target and ask for them but I tell them it’d be so much nicer to create your own. Little J’s are fabulous! I do love that white chaise.

Thank you Arnebya. The chaise is from IKEA and I scored it in the half off section too!!

So amazing! Good work Little J! I love that he wanted to arrange them himself, and that you have encouraged his artistic side by doing that.

I LOVE THEM!! What a fantastic beautiful idea. Thank you for hanging them. Thank you for all the kids whose parents don’t. I still have Noah’s first picture he ever drew in a frame. Now I want to go buy all that and pain with Noah, who is weeks away from being a teenager but will LOVE it.

The shirts? He is a neat freak, honestly. Not from my genes though
Nice collection! I love to give the kids’ canvas paintings as gifts but I really should hang some up in our house. I love the quote you ended with.

I absolutely love this post! (as I do for many others of yours). The last picture is my favorite. He looks like he’s don’t a good day’s work and is relaxing with his finished products displayed behind him. He’s very talented at such a young age. I hope he continues with his art in the future!

I love IKEA and I wish we would not live 3 hours from the next one!!! We used to live 30 min. away from one of the biggest ones in Germany and I loved going there all the time.
Anyway – love your pictures and your post – as always. And Little J is quite the artist! Right on!

I have an IKEA obsession. For a while it looked like I might be cured since shopping with a toddler is anything but fun. But now my son loves going there. It is over 2 hours drive for us too
