Monday Listicles

I am sitting and typing, wearing my wellies.

Because it is wet and rainy and I am suppose to go pick up the last of the strawberries and tomatoes. And I will, I will. As soon as I finish this. In fact it is one of the many things I realized have not changed about me in the last 20 years or so: I never quite finish one thing before I move on to the next. Wait 20 years? I meant 2, you know since I turned adult and all…

Which brings me to the listicles. I am really excited about this weeks topic. Christine suggested we write a list of 10 WAYS YOU ARE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT THAN YOUR YOUNGER SELF and I can just see all your lovely and poetic lists! Thank you Christine for a lovely suggestion.

Next week topic was suggested by Bridget from Twinisms and backed up by Brandee from One Crazy Kid

And then by Ellen from Sisterhood of Sensible Moms which was supported by Robbie from Fractured Family Tales

In case you are unsure, next week is : 10 HALLOWEEN COSTUMES.

But first, here is how some things changed and some remained the same about me. And you?

Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!

10 WAYS YOU ARE THE SAME OR DIFFERENT THAN YOUR YOUNGER SELF

1. I love spinach now.
Once grandma told me I am not to leave the table until I finish spinach that was side dish at lunch. She gave up and send me to bed 7 hours later.

2. I never talk on the phone.
I used to call my best friend as soon as I got home from school and talk for hours. And yes, we sat together in class. I must have used up all my minutes as a teen because I HATE talking on the phone now.

3. I never watch TV. Ever. Unless my friend Nola visits and we watch Justified together.
I had a TV in my room as a teen. MTV was on in the background all day. Again, must have burned my quota.

4. I love photography.
Some things never change, some loves grow every day.

5. I love outdoors.
Some things never change, some loves grow every day.

6. I love chocolate.
Some things never change, some loves grow every day.

7. I am still awkward around children.
I never babysat or helped anyone with kids and even after becoming a mom I am not naturally drawn to kids.

8. I still daydream.
I always imagined scenarios in my head and lived them out as a kid. Well I don’t act them out now but I still daydream all the time. Trust me when I run I am winning a Boston marathon.

9. I still color my hair.
In fact I have not seen my natural hair color since I was a teen. Imagine if it is the same as the one I pay good money for every month?

10. My name has changed.
Sure, I now have a different last name. But my first name is spelled differently too. StaΕ‘a is now Stasa on my documents and Stasha in my everyday use. Confused? Me too, most of the time…

I know, what were they thinking?! Not that I don’t feel like doing it to my prodigal son all the time. But I resort to bribe instead…

You never watch TV??? No wonder you are such a blogging superstar! I’m with you on the phone issue, though. I am guilty of keeping my phone on silent most of the time and ignoring all incoming calls. However if you text me, you will usually get a response within 5 minutes.

Great list! I used to have my own phone number when I was younger because I used to talk so much. Now, I much prefer people send me a text message or better yet an email.

I was always a daydreamer too. I guess that’s why I like writing. It’s like putting daydreams down on paper! Great list!

That’s why I hate the phone these days — I burned it all up when I was a teen.
I was the opposite with children: I always wanted to help at my babysitter’s, in sunday school, but I never wanted any of my own. well, obviously that changed at some point too.
and thank goodness for the rest of us you still love photography!

Great list! My mom never allowed me to dye my hair (well, she didn’t exactly forbid it, but there was very subtle manipulation involved *g*) even though I hated the color. Well, today I’m glad that I stayed true to myself. I love your hair color, though! =)

If I hadn’t already posted today i would totally be linking up. Such a fun idea.
I love your determination in #1. My mom did that to me with oranges once. I still gag at the sight of them.
I’ll never stop loving chocolate. Some thing are just meant to be.

I was really awkward around kids before I had mine too. But now? LOVE kids! Except the ones who are obviously kinda needy, you know, the ones who feel the need to talk your ear off and ask lots of questions even tho you just met them? It gets on my nerves, but then I feel bad cuz I think it must be because they may not be getting much attention at home, so then I try to give them attention, but it’s exhausting! My favorite age is 1 year olds cuz they are just SO CUTE!

Goodness, I hate talking on the phone too. I think you may be on to something with the burning out the quota.

And you know what? Don’t tell the rest of the sensible moms, but I’m not what I dub a “natural earth mother” either. I do well with my kids and some select others, but in general, I don’t HAVE to hold a baby. They are awfully moist.

You made me laugh about the hair color. I wonder if my teen will be the same.

    Long live spinach! Ellen

I used to love talking on the phone too. Now, I cringe when it rings. I’m not near as much of a sweet tooth as I used to be. When I was little, I loved any candy I could get my hands on! Now, it’s just dark chocolate covered edamame or raisins. Yum! Love these Monday lists! Have a great week!

I have to agree with all of these! Except, I don’t like chocolate, and I only started coloring my hair recently. And my name hasn’t changed quite as much. But definitely with you on the rest! πŸ™‚

  12. Hi Stasha,
I linked up with your Monday Listicles for this first time this week. I linked to your blog in my post, but I also want to put your Monday LIsticle Image at the bottom of my post. I am new to this, and have NO idea how to do that. Can you help?!
    Thanks,
    Sarah

Hi Sarah! Welcome to Listicles. You are a doll for wanting to add the image to your post. The easiest way is to copy and paste the code under the image in my post above. Let me know if it works, otherwise I can send you the image. πŸ™‚

I am many things but not competitive at all either πŸ˜‰ Unless I am cheering for someone else. Then I am all about winning!
