Another week ends. Hurray for a new one!
Ignore me, I honestly do love Mondays. And your lists. Like the ones last week. You all really made me laugh! Even the one that was written as a response by a celebrity SAHM who found ours very offensive. Sadly she forgot to link it up. Shame really, I know you were all wanting to read about why I should stop whining about my life and embrace botox, car service and real leather shoes…
Before we dive into the list of books let me tell you about next week’s listicles. Because Anna is a book worm and a published author herself it is fitting we ask her to choose the topic. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find Mommy Padawan’s blog among the linked bellow and complete the list she calls for. Then return next week to link it up.
But first, let’s talk books:
Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!
Little J’s top 10 favorite books
1. Shoo fly by Iza Trapani
He loves all Iza’s books. But this one I caught him singing and reciting often. In fact he makes up his own version.
2. I stink by Kate and Jim Mc Mullan
We have borrowed this book three times from the library already. Enough said.
3. My Completely Best Story Collection by Lauren Child
We read these often before bedtime. I think ‘I won’ story is his favorite from this book.
4. What do people do all day? by Richard Scarry
Is there a child that doesn’t love this book?
5. National Geographic World Atlas
I remember as a child flipping through my grandpa’s atlas. To this day I can recognize most national flags. Little J does the same. Only his favorite is the section on tectonic plates.
6. Wanted: Cat by Marinka, Peajaye and Sonya
He loves the story. He loves the pictures. And he loves that it is long, so it buys him at least 10 extra awake minutes.
7. Punxsutawney Phyllis by Susanna Leonard Hill
We won this book in a giveaway and it arrived a week after Groundhog day. Funny thing, Little J loved it already because they were reading it in preschool at the same time! It is such a wonderful story.
8. Robot Zot! by Jon Scieszka
I find this book a bit odd, but my son loves it! He spotted it in the library and he loved listening to the CD that came with it. I honestly think this would be the one to teach him reading with.
9. Bossypants by Tina Fey
This is the only book I downloaded for MYSELF on MY iPad. And my kid is always clicking on it and flipping pages. The power of Tina!
10. The Bear Went Over the Mountain by Iza Trapani
This book came out on April 1st and is already a favorite of ours.
All images are courtesy of Amazon and if clicked they will take you to the shop.

Missed you so much I just had to pop in for a wee visit. This topic is right up my alley!
There’s nothing more wonderful than a kid who loves to read! Some titles I have not heard of here. I’m looking forward to checking them out.

I love that you made the list with books your son loves to read. I have heard of some of these but not all. Also, my little one prefers her Richard Scarry on Netfix.

Fun, Stasha! I have not read any of these books with the kids. I’ll have to explore a little further. And the picture at the end is wonderful, as usual.
And I thought we read a lot of books. I only recognize one or two on your list! It’s off to the library for me!

I’m a little sad that my boys aren’t as into Richard Scarry as I was when I was a kid. However they LOVE maps and atlases and Mo Willems books, especially Knuffle Bunny.

What a great list! I can’t believe I haven’t heard of most of them. The favorites chez Toddler are any of the Pigeon books (Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, etc.), any of the Simms Taback books (which I am beyond sick of), and Bonsoir Lune (goodnight moon, in French).

Love Little J’s reading library….very varied taste – I like that. It’s amazing to see how their choices will change as the get older too. Just wait: we’ve moved on from Richard Scary and Good Night Moon to the lovely literature tones of Captain Underpants and the Dumb Bunnies *eye roll*.
