Do you remember how people used to talk about the game on Mondays?
Not anymore. It is all about Listicles now. This here my friends is history in the making. So welcome!
Thank you Rachel for choosing a fun topic last week. I wonder if we helped you make the decision on whether to attend high school reunion or not? Keep us posted Rachel!
Let us talk about the next listicle. Seeing how on the 8th of March we celebrate International Women’s day I am calling the topic. Growing up, this was a very important and celebrated holiday. I loved planning special surprises for my mom, grandma, aunts and teachers. It was a lovely day to thank women in our life. Funny how IWD was founded in America yet we don’t really observe it. As a child I looked forward to one day celebrating it with a family and co-workers of my own. So humor me and let us do a List about it. I was going to call it 10 ways to celebrate being a woman, but we have challenged Paul quite enough, so let us keep this simple. List of 10 things Women. Anything goes.
But first, inspired by Jessica is a list of ten things we are rubbish at.
Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!
10 THINGS I AM NOT GOOD AT
1. Saying NO
I have a container full of LEGO blocks, an empty box of dog treats and no chocolate left to submit as evidence.
2. Asking for payment
As a small business owner that is a problem. Trust me.
3. Singing
Nature has a sense of humor. I have great memory. Most of the songs I like, I know the lyrics to. What a talent to waste on a dreadful singer like me.
These sea lions in San Francisco bay sound a lot like me.
4. Cooking
I once cooked a meal for my grandpa. He put it under the table so my old dog ( a terrier who thought carrion in the field was dessert) would save him from hurting my feelings. The dog backed away and hid behind the couch.
5. Climbing the pole
I have no future as a pole dancer. In school we had to climb the pole to complete the annual physical fitness test and I really struggled.
6. Pacing myself
I never stop at a piece of chocolate, scoop of ice cream or a cookie.
7.Double checking
If I ever wrote a comment on your blog you know I never read them before I hit publish. And my autocorrect has a great sense of humor.
8. Ordering at Starbucks
I practice as I drive there:
Tall Toffee Nut Latte with a bit of Carmel drizzle. I brought my own cup. Thank you.
Tall Toffee Nut Latte with a bit of Carmel drizzle. I brought my own cup. Thank you.
Tall Toffee Nut Latte with a bit of Carmel drizzle. I brought my own cup. Thank you.
I get there and :
Can I have a latte please. I brought my own cup. Can you ad some toffee nut syrup? How many pumps? I don’t know. Oh and can you put some carmel on top? No, not the syrup, that other thingy, whatchmacallit? Yes drizzle. Cream? Oh, OK. What size? Small. Oh and I brought my own cup. Yes that will be all. Wait, a cup of water too please, I really broke a sweat here…
9. Mucking out
With the amount of horse poo I shovel you would think I am a pro. My friend Nola keeps telling me it is all in the wrist. But I have never picked it all in one go. Yet.

10. Going through Car wash
I am like dumb and dumber in there. I always stop too soon or drive a bit beyond the sensors. And don’t even get me started with the dryer. It is my life long ambition to time driving through the dryer perfectly. I have divided my car into 10 second sections and counted out as I move through the machine and yet I always leave the car wash with a partially wet vehicle.

I made it back! I was totally refresh-stalking your page so I could post up tonight. I’ve missed my Listicles!
A small note about the car wash…mine actually steers and pushes my car so I don’t have to time it. If you look for one like that then all your problems will be solved!

Small town, we don’t have one of those conveyor belt car washes. But I do dream about them, often…

We both had your #1. #2 I recall from my self-employed days! I have seen and heard those sea lions. It’s a glorious sound!
Cookie’s Mom recently posted..I have some mad skills. These are not them.
You are a true friend. But I love you and will not sing for you. Promise.

Haha – this is a good one! I totally forgot about the car wash, I hate it as well and can never figure out when to stop or how far up to drive in. I also have your #3, I just belt out those songs in the car anyway. No one can hear me in there, right?

Hmmm… I have been looked at the traffic light in a very strange way. People can either hear us through the window or my facial expressions match my singing talent… Love your list Anna!

Ha! I can’t cook or bake either. I do try. I just gave someone an email beating over $600. Got $500 of it. *sigh*

BWAHAhAHA! That number 8 just SLAYED me! HAHAHA! I am laughing so hard because I do the same thing. I always leave so irked that some marketing guru thought it would be cute to change “Small/Medium/and Large” to venti, tall and grande or whatever because I still can’t get these! And I loved no. 1! Ha! Thanks for the laugh Stasha.

#8 totally made me giggle. And I don’t check my comments before I post them either. Not enough time! Loved your list!

I know. It is usually when I get an email reply on one of my comments that I feel deep shame and a need to declare to the world I am not as dumb as I appear. But I would spell the declaration wrong so…

I can relate with most of these, but I actually was really good at pole climbing when I was younger. I haven’t found a way to put that skill to use, because there are several other reasons I should never be a pole dancer.

Yep, as much as I am happy to hear you are good at pole climbing I can see how it is a bit of a pointless talent

Oh my gosh. I was all ready to talk about not being able to pace myself either. Then you talked about the car wash…it’s the bane of my existence!! I’m with you sister. Totally. With. You.

I think we need one of those manual car washes with handsome men wearing nothing but a kilt working there for us Listicle girls. Petition?

I am still laughing that “ordering at Starbucks” and “climbing the pole” are in the same post. And just for bonding purposes, I had to retype “laughing” twice. And purposes! Ah! Ellen

I wish I was fabulous and took the high ground here but it makes me feel less alone knowing you got squiggly thingy under you word and had to re-type! Are you girls going to spill the beans on you 10?
But you said it PERFECTLY in your drive to the Bux! Size first-Tall, then flavor, toffee nut ( a tall gets 3 pumps), then drink-latte. The only thing the barista should ask you is “Do you want whip on that?”

Practice saying the whole thing- “May I have a tall toffee nut latte please?”
That’ll help you
I LOVE this topic and already commented on Alison’s .
Maybe I better put my list out there too
Kristi recently posted..a perfect bump
So really I am a natural at this coiffed ordering thing before I actually have to order. And I truly hope barista forgets to ask me aout the whip, because well #1- being rubbish at saying no…

Oh and the car wash! OMG I totally suck at that too! Haven’t done it in years – now I bring it to a car wash where people wash it for me. #Win

Wow, I can totally nod my head in agreement to 7 of your 10. Especially the singing and the Starbucks order. I think I sound like Celine Dion when I sing in the shower, my kids knock on the door to find out if I slipped and fell because of all the screeching. So sad, I’d be a great diva. Have a great Monday!

Going thru the car wash gives me such ageda (aah-ge-duh). (How on earth do you spell that?) I can never get my front tires to line up in the track on the ground. Also, I’m sure I’m a worse cook than you.

Too funny…We were twins till Starbucks. I’m Coffee of the Day, black. Hard to panic with that one. Then I’ve never been around horses (though think they are lovely). And I don’t have a problem with car washes — though did lose a $200 bike rack on a $5 car wash. Great list.

Your coffee order made me laugh. When I get my postcard for a free drink at Starbucks, I tend to have a very similar experience since I make it a very high maintenance order.
