Here comes Monday and with it lists. If you are organized you wrote a few: shopping list, to do list, Valentine’s cards list… If you are like me you wrote a list Jackie suggested and had lots of ice cream. Which should probably be on top of my passions list. But more on that in [...]

You know that feeling when you find something that fits just right?
Like you favorite pair of shoes or that jeans that sits on your hips kinda perfect. Or your favorite creamer? And in my case that lens that is on my camera most of the time. Yes, that makes one happy!
I get asked by fellow bloggers a lot which camera I think they should buy or what program I think is best to use for editing. I am not the kind of girl that will endorse this or that. We are all a bit different and whatever camera fits good in your hand and meets your needs should be the one you buy. I also evolve. I think we all do. At the moment I am going through a vintage faze. All of the sudden I am adding grain to my photos, emulating prints from film cameras my parents used when I was little.
But one thing that is important and will stay with you no matter what your favorite camera is or your shooting style may be: KNOWLEDGE.
We can never know too much. So when you buy a new camera, first thing is to learn how to use it. All of it! Then as you start processing your photos you should know how to use your editing program. All of it.
I often hear people saying they are planning to move to manual. Assuming they are not talking about dishwashing they must be referring to setting their camera to manual mode. Anyway, I find that funny. Kind of like buying a car but driving it only in first gear until you get used to it and then moving on to second, hoping one day you will have enough time to figure out how to put it all the way to fifth gear. There is nothing wrong with using auto mode, but why limit yourself to just that?
Same goes for photo editing. I use Lightroom by Adobe because it fits me. My first objective is to get the photo out of the camera just the way I want it. Then enhance it. And with the amount of photos I take I need it to be simple and effective. I can process a whole photo shoot in an afternoon, then choose the photos that stand out and edit any tiny imperfections. Which gives me enough time to build a LEGO city with my son.
I spent a lot of time learning. Then I found Rob and Lauren. You know I spoke about them before. The reason is simple. Their photo tutorials fit me. They are clear and to the point, fast and simple to understand. If you bought your new camera today you will know how to use it by following their tutorial about Camera Skills. If you received your copy of Lightroom 4 today you will know how to edit your photos to perfection by the time you finish their Photo Skills. Not to mention all the wonderful tips they share on their website.
The reason I am telling you all this is very important. Today is the big launch of their new tutorial:
It is great! I thought I was the editing ninja but I still learned so many new things. It has
*63 videos (totalling over 5 hours of screencasts) showing you how to enhance your photos using Lightroom 4
*Over 50 high quality color, black & white, and utility Lightroom presets
*35 example photos to follow along with
*And two supporting eBooks!
Bottom line: you want it! Trust me. And to celebrate the launch they are giving us 40% off for the first 10 days. We all like a good discount and at $47.95 this is a well worth investment.
PS: They are giving away a free pack of 39 presets for Lightroom 4. CLICK HERE
Let me know what you think. And feel free to send me cookies as a thank you for pointing you in the right direction.
Disclaimer: I signed up as an affiliate of Photography Concentrate after I bought their tutorials and learned how to rock my camera and editing. Mostly because I love their pretty banners. But I am telling you about this tutorial today because it is on special offer. I told so many of you about it over the past year because I really love it. The end.
