Weekend Treat

This week the choice was simple, again from Real simple. I love chocolate, I love ginger. So I present to you these. Enjoy!

I read lots of amazing posts on well over a hundred blogs. But THIS one from Kiddothings really made me smile. Let me know what you think of Chocolate bars. And don’t forget to link up your top 10 something on Monday Listicles. Someone asked me how to participate without having a blog. Leave a comment with your list, link your Facebook post or simply email it to me and I will find a way to put it up there for the world to read it and marvel. Anything is possible!

Ginger Chocolate-Chip Bars

Makes 32 bars| Hands-On Time: 15m | Total Time: 1hr 05m

  1. Heat oven to 350° F.
  2. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking pan and line it with 2 crisscrossed pieces of parchment paper, leaving an overhang on all sides. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the butter and sugars, using an electric mixer, until fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat to combine. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just incorporated. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  4. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 40 to 50 minutes. Cool completely in the pan, then cut into 32 bars (8 rows by 4 rows).

To store: The tight seal on a take-out container will keep the bars moist and chewy.

To freeze: Instead of baking the batter, freeze it in the pan for up to 2 months. To bake, follow the recipe instructions, baking from frozen, and use the upper end of the time rang

When I take the vacation in your backyard that I won…will there be weekend treats delivered to me out there? Or how will that work?

There will be cakes galore and chocolate on your pillow. However this weekend is fully booked, Isaac is back at ours for a bit. Running and biking is fine in our side of the town too, however I do not encourage it. It is contra productive to eating treats all day!

Stasha, You really gave me a weekend treat. Thanks! I’m gonna give you a big cyber *BEAR HUG*!! Thanks for sharing the recipe too. You have a good week ahead!

  3. Have a lovely weekend! I am thinking this treat is another to add to my treat making agenda. I went with the simple ole rice krispie treats yesterday. They are just so easy.

You know,I have never made rice krispie treats. Growing up in Europe, they are just not common. So do share the recipe one day, please.

I couldn’t possibly make such a delish treat b/c I would certainly eat all of it in one sitting. Well, maybe I’ll try and make it….looks really yummo. (-:
