Weekend treat

Last week I made chocolate fudge pie. It called for store-bought pie crust. The only one our store had came as a 2 pack. Left with a spare pie crust I looked for something to make with it. This looked good, was so easy to make and tasted delicious. I used Granny smith apples simply because I had them home already. This was the first time ever for me to whip something up without having to run to the store to buy any of the ingredients. Think I might be successfully domesticated one day!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Set an oven rack in the lowest position and heat oven to 375º F. Place the pie plate on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  2. In a food processor, pulse the butter, ¾ cup of the flour, and ¼ cup of the sugar until large clumps form. Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the apples, ginger, cinnamon, salt, and the remaining ½ cup of sugar and tablespoon of flour.
  4. Transfer the apple mixture to the crust, sprinkle with the crumb topping, and bake until the top is golden and the apples are tender, 55 to 60 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.

You know Draga that mine did not look like that. Tasted great and looked nice when it came out of the oven but then I cut into it and…nobody is ready for that kind of honesty.
