Trigger happy

No, I am not talking fire arms or acting rashly.

I am talking about my beloved camera. It is the single most amazing purchase I ever made (and my Husband paid for). It goes with me everywhere. I am stuck to it’s viewer to the point where my eyelashes are glued together. It takes great photos and makes me appear talented. It records our everyday life and helps me appreciate it’s beauty. I love my fancy camera. And it’s lenses. The strap too.

But it is tearing my family apart. Because my dog loves to pose for it and my son doesn’t. The other day I was clicking away and my son looked at me dead serious : Not today Mama, it is my day off.

Which made me think I might be overdoing it.

So I did what every other parent would. I started focusing on the dog and asking him to pose for me.

It worked like a charm, because past few days my son has been requesting to take a picture of him.

And to leave you with something funny over the weekend here is what made me laugh this morning:

I ordered a pack of socks for Little J and let him choose the colors. They arrived yesterday and he loves them. So much so he brought them to bed first thing in the morning. Sitting there he is examining the label and looking at the care instructions he says:

See. That’s why pictures on labels are awesome. They’re so easy, a child can interpret them! (P.S. Little J is too cute!)

He’s such a cutie! His view of the care instructions is adorable :)

Have you posted on here what kind of camera you have? I’m really interested in finding a new one that takes better quality photos of my children!

That answer is genius. Love it! And keep up the photo work. My twin is the memory keeper of her family and it’s always funny to see the irritating look her husband gives her (and me) when we have to stop everything, will he take our photo? But the memories captured and moments made are priceless – especially when you are like me (post 4 babies and post-chemo brain) and need a little outside help to recall a great day. They may not appreciate the day to day business of photo but ultimately, you know it’s a win!

Thank you Diane. You are right. Memories are priceless. When we moved a few years ago the shipping company lost all my photo albums. To this day I tear up thinking I have no proof of existence before 2006! when we filled out the claim the form asked for value of lost items. Financial-none but it was priceless and irreplaceable. Now I back up twice and click like mad…I love the photo of you and Denise on Pink Pockets Facebook page. You are both stunning.

I’m glad he was ok after a few days off! He’s very smart because I wouldn’t have been able to correctly read those instructions. I also love that the sock instructions tell you how to put on the socks…many people can’t figure that out on their own.

That little boy is some kinda cute omigoodness! I can understand why he’d like a few days off. And frankly (I’m whispering so they don’t hear me), the dog just doesn’t stack up. No blonde curls, no tiny little teeth, no dimples. By which I mean nothing bad about the dog…just that the biped wins the cute contest (it IS a contest, isn’t it?)

With these two it is always a contest. But when it comes to general public popularity the dog tends to get more votes. My son will love you for declaring him a winner. in fact we will now make this contest biannual so the kid can bask in his glory for next few :)

Oh my….you and your camera take some amazing pictures!! I only wish that I could take pictures like that! It’s a good camera sure, but you also have a great eye!

That boy of yours is preciously adorable! Dog is cute as well! Oh and Little J should totally work for a label company!

    LOL, he’s a smart cookie!

I feel exactly the same way about my camera – the Hubs bought it for me as a gift and now I am HOOKED. But it can be a bit of a burden sometimes, because when you’re busy photographing, sometimes you’re more removed from the actual events (which can be good in some situations, but not quite so much when it comes to parenting). Plus, now friends just assume I’ll have it with me at all times and will give them cutes pics of their kids so they’ve stopped bringing their own cameras! Still, that was probably the best gift I have been given and it has actually changed the way I see things (cheesy but true).

Oh, my gosh. He is so absolutely adorable he makes my heart ache for the good old days! Enjoy him-even when he is taking a day off- because these days don’t last nearly as long as you wish they would.

He’s SO cute, of course you’re always going to be aiming the camera at him: that smile is worth it!
PS: I have the same obsession w. photographing everything and my kids call me the “Mamarazzi” and lift their hand up and say, “Please, no more photos today, Ms. Thang needs her beauty rest.” (-:
