Tale of a crow and a dog

We have a new grill.

Which means all dinners until further notice are prepared by my Husband and consumed on the back porch. Also known as the residence of Big M. Off course the dog is kind and lets us crash in his bachelors pad.

We in return gave him some lovely bones. He took them in the middle of the backyard, also known as his snacking area.

Then this cheeky crow appeared. He was eyeing the bone and kept creeping up on our dog. To our surprise dog stood up, returned onto the porch and let the crow finish his bone. I was in shock but Husband was quick to educate me crows are very intelligent and probably have a hit on Big M. This is a short recap of the five minute story Husband, who clearly watched way too much Sopranos, came up with:

Silly, I know.

Except the crow then walked up to Big M’s water bowl, drank out of it, took a nice bath, pooped on his way out, glanced one last time in my dog’s direction and flew away.

Look, I have seen Birds. Maybe Hitchcock and Husband are right…

    I can’t stop laughing… from your dog’s cute face at the end to what the bird did by then drinking the water! Those two were definitely communicating! Your dog is so adorable, but huge! I can’t believe a crow could intimidate him, but then crows are birds that make us feel threatened, or at least they do if we’ve seen The Birds! That movie scarred me when I was a little girl.

    You could make a comic book with all of your awesome stories!

    Hahaha!! I’m loving all your comics and agree with Kim that you should compile them into a comic book – I think Little J would love it.

    I always thought crows have an evil aura about them. And dogs can sense these things. Poor fella. I guess he really didn’t want to lose his eyes.

    I find crows creepy, so his apprehension is not unfounded.

    I absolutely adore your comic strips! I love art. And this, my dear, is totally artistic. And the content? Geniusly funny. You should have your own section in a newspaper comics somewhere. Beat out Calvin and Hobbes! (Although I do like C&H.) I am looking forward to another strip!

    LOVE the comic! I can’t believe a bird would look at your gigantic fuzzy bear of a dog and audaciously taunt him. What a jerk! Crows are bizarre, and clearly really bold! Poor pooch. :)

    I did not know that crows were intelligent. I find them quite ugly and loud. I have never seen Birds, but I DO love your comic :)

    Oh Big M, I feel your pain! I was once dive-bombed by a crow on the campus of my university. I had blonde hair at the time and it was up in a messy bun, so maybe it thought my hair was straw? All I know is it was a very scary moment and I probably looked like a madwoman as I held my head and ran for cover. Crows are evil. And I could never watch The Birds because I would soil myself.

    Crows are really smart and they teach each other stuff. There’s probably a whole gang of crows that are taking advantage of Big M. Newfies are just too dang sweet for their own good.
