No Martha here

I have many talents, cooking is not one of them.

Lucky for me, my Husband enjoys to cook and is very good at it. So good in fact I don’t even mind him taking forever, dirtying up most of the utensils and banning us from the kitchen for unreasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, he works till late in the afternoon and it is impossible to feed our son dinner based of his schedule.

So from time to time I have to roll up my sleeves and put the apron on. For most part, even though I find no enjoyment whatsoever, I will present an edible creation. That will then be judged and ignored by my son same as his father’s cuisine. Really, unless it was made in a chocolate factory, Little J has no appreciation for food at all.

This is not so much a confession as it is a tutorial. Of a very bizarre kind. If  there is anybody else out there who is as challenged and uninterested in cooking as I am, I know a good recipe. Get gadgets. Lots of them! Since I have been equipped with an amazing slow cooker and Kitchen aid I have turned into a domestic diva. Sure I still don’t whip up things because I love cooking; but I like cooking, because I love gadgets.

If only my laptop or mobile phone could produce a tasty meal, I would be the best chef in the world.

I’m the same!! Was just thinking today how much I want a food processor!! haha Jarred loves to cook…but he won’t be around for a year. I get bored with food myself so I’m making myself try new recipes. But seriously, a food processor would help ;)

No time like the present. My neighbor told me they make a bright yellow one now. I can see you smiling next to it.
Fair winds and following seas Jarred. Love to both.

I like to cook, actually, although the grind of whatsfordinnerwhatsfordinner makes me nuts – and god knows my kids aren’t an appreciative audience. BUT I think part of why I like it has to do with –”I can’t help you right now, I’m making dinner,” and “ask daddy, I’m in the middle of cooking dinner…” It’s a bit of a refuge. I talk to my mom on the phone, we get caught up, I make some kind of something, and it’s sort of nice. A few years ago, though, my younger son described the kitchen as “mommy’s office.” ARGH

Using a slow cooker is the easiest way in the world to cook. And the house smells good all day too.

I hope this doesn’t mean that all the baked goods you promised me will not be forthcoming.
