Monday Listicles

New week, new Listicle.

First of all how much did you love last weeks challenge? I did. It was great fun hopping around and seeing all your takes on Yin Yang. Thank you Kim for a great topic.

Speaking of Yin Yang relationship Mother Earth has some rage planned for East coast and as I write this I hope with all my being everybody is well and safe. I hope in the darkest hour you can close your eyes, visit one of ten places you love and find comfort until Irene passes by your town.

Now to a more happy announcement: we are taking Little J to Woodland Zoo down near Seattle this weekend. Because he wants to see a giraffe. And lovely people from Woodland Zoo would like you to see them too. I have a family pass to give away and if you return on Friday and let me know how much you want it, I will enter you in a draw. What is more, if you win but cannot make a trip to Pacific Northwest in next year or so I will send it to someone you know who can. So spread the word…

To celebrate our trip and my first giveaway ever, how about we do List of 10 animal related. Anything to do with zoology. Surprise me!

And thanks to Sara for picking this weeks theme. I love writing about things I love! So without further ado:

Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!

1. My bed

Because my son comes in every morning and I start my day by Sundaying. Which is essentially me doing anything he comes up with, mostly playing house with his imaginary friend Simmy Sim  and reading books. It is our special time when the world is just me and him and my bed ( and my sons infinite imagination).

2. Little J’s bed

Because it is a fruit of my labour. OK, I had to throw that in. Reason it is on the list is snuggling up every night to read a bed time story and talk about our day. Then a kiss and a hug and my son is off to dream land.

3. Guest bed

Because I have a terrible sense of humor. I was going to say Big M’s bed next but I will stop here… In my defense the guest bed is very comfortable.

4. Pacific NW

this is heaven. The island we live on is perfect. Everything about it. Love our corner of the world.

5. Motherland

I come from unimaginable beauty. No wonder my life is good. Look at where it begun.

6. My blog

Because it is a place I meet all of you.

7. Sheldrake Rd

Is the address we lived on in England. Where my dear friend still lives. Where my son took his first steps. Where my puppy became a dog. Where my Husband and I became a family.

8. Paris

There is something about Paris. I just love it.

9. Barn

I am always happy there. No matter what, I step in the barn and I am happy.

10. Sky

I love looking at it, I spend most of my adult life flying it and love taking photos of it.

Congrats on your first giveaway! And have a wonderful time at Woodland Zoo this weekend. I’m sure Little J will include that in his list of places he love after the visit.

Thank you! I am so excited! Love it when I receive something I love to share with you all. And if you win, you are staying with us on the island!

  2. Wow, Stasha, Slovenia! And England and Paris 🙂 The video was beautiful and a perfect fit to all of your favorite places. I guessed you might mention the sky, because your photos capture so many different perspectives of it. Are you still flying often? I loved rereading the post about constructing the bed; I’m still so impressed by that. I think of your places, my favorite is the Pacific NW. For the past year or so I have been feeling it in my bones that I’d like for us to retire there (WA or OR) when my husband is done with the Navy. I think we have about 5-7 more years to go. Will you guys try to retire there, too?

I’m sorry we’ll miss the zoo, but I am so psyched to do a zoology list of 10!! WOO HOO 🙂 Now I’m off to read more lists and start brainstorming my list of animals for next week.

Thank you again for your support and encouragement for me to try the Scavenger Hunt. I was happy when my Monday Listicles post appeared at the top of my blog, as my photos embarrassed me, but I think I’ll try again next week.

Thank you Kim, I love your list and so did many others on Twitter!
Pacific NW will be our home. Like you, we never know what is next for us, but we bought a home here and will be back. Our island has a great retired community so I will forever fit right in, being a professional idler.
As for flying, I hung up my uniform the day I got pregnant and as much as I loved it I don’t see myself ever doing it again.
I really liked your Scavenger Hunt and I look forward to many more. They are stories to tell, be it with fancy photography, ideas or staged prompts. And yours was lovely, Ashley agreed!
I am very shy about my writing and photos, so I understand. Every time we post something, we are vulnerable. Your writing is your strong suit so anything different is a challenge. And challenge keeps it interesting, pushes us forward.

I’ve seen your Listicles linkup many times now and am happy to finally join in! :>

Cuddles before saying goodnight is definitely on a top 10 list of the best parts of parenting.

I love the Northwest too! I lived in both Oregon & Washington as a kidlet and even though it’s been awhile, I love it anytime I’ve gone back.

  4. I like the last one best–the sky. I spend a lot of my time looking at it too, but for a different reason–I am a nurseryman, and so the sky tells me stories about how things are going to go and what I will need to do. You should see the sky in Florida–sleepy in the winter, vibrant and agressive in the summer. I’m glad you thought to include it–it reminded me of how important it is to me.

Your photos are beautiful in this weeks list, cannot wait to see next weeks ones. FYI, theme is a suggestion, not a must so if you ever feel you cannot follow it, post any list you want.
May I ask for your Tweeter handle so I can send out your link to everyone?

Like everyone else, I love your list. And your motherland is so beautiful! You’re lucky to have lived so many places you love…including the place you now call home. It is a good life.

Great list! I loved Paris too. Someday, I want to go back. There are so many places in the world that I want to go. I love beds too, I just wish I could spend more time in them!

Besides the bed references, I have to say my favorite was the addition of Slovenia to your list. It is stunning, almost etheral.

  9. Your first three literally have me craving my Lazy Boy with the heater on, plus blanket and pillow. Does not matter amount of chaos in my life, it is a known fact that when I set up shop on that thing, watch out! Long, heavy, well-deserved nap!

how cool is it that one of your places is the sky! That’s wonderful. And while I don’t have your thing for barns (horses, I confess, scare me a bit. Sorry) — because of my years on Mackinac Island, in Michigan, where people still use horse&buggy, the smell of horse poop actually makes me nostalgic – it’s a weirdly clean smell, somehow, even though it’s..well, poop. Love these lists!

I was just looking at the comments and have realized that I haven’t written one yet! Anywho, you’ve been to Paris? Ah, you’re so lucky. I will go there someday. The city of love, I hear, is beautiful at night. But I want to visit the Louvre, Palace of Versailles and their gardens and fountains, Champs Elysees, and Notre Dame. I suppose I can squeeze in seeing the Eiffel Tower too, but I think it’s overrated. Can you tell how much I’d love to go?
