Welcome back from your vacation.
Thank you to Hope, who chose a great topic and made us all dream of warmer places and you all for linking inspiring posts on what makes a perfect vacation. It was fun to dream a little and remember how to relax.
This Monday Jen chose an interesting list for us to make: 10 reasons why you do or do not want more children! OR, if you don’t have kids, 10 reasons why you don’t, including if you ever will. I like a good challenge and shared even if it is not something I would discuss with other moms at the playground. But we are all friends here, so I shall be honest. Really look forward to reading yours too.
Before we begin, I have a huge announcement. Next week Listicles will be very special. There is a wonderful and very important moment we will celebrate and I really don’t want you to miss it. So I will make this list so incredibly simple you have no reason to skip it. Come and share ten of your favorite photos. They can be of you or perfect strangers, taken by you, pinned by you, seen by you, old or new. List of 10 photos. Easy peasy.
Until then, let’s see your 10 reasons this week.
Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!
9 REASONS WHY I SHOULD HAVE LOTS OF BABIES PLUS 1
1. We got pregnant as soon as we started trying.
2. My pregnancy was a breeze.
3. My labor was on time.
4. I gave birth with no pain relief and I really did not think it was that terrible.
5. My son latched on immediately.
6. I did not find feedings and sleepless nights too tiring.
7. I am in no rush to go back to work, nore do I have to.
8. I do truly enjoy spending time with my son and think he is fun to be with.
9. We have no reason not to have more children.
but
10. We love our family just the way it is.
That I think is the beauty of being free to be you and me. Choice.

What a gorgeous picture! You’ve convinced me…you should have lots and lots of babies.

Thank you Greta. And I am sorry about the comments, no idea why my site pops you in spam…
I’m jealous that your son latched on easily. That was the hardest part. Labor and getting pregnant were easy for me too, but I had a very hard time for the 1st 3 months with colic and nursing.

Sorry to hear that Rachel. I really was so beyond fortunate on all counts I always feel a bit guilty about it. And so very blessed.

Oh, that sweet picture…you look so beautiful!! Motherhood really agrees with you, Stasha. Thank you for sharing and for your honesty. I find myself wondering if people want more kids or not, but I would never dare to ask

Thank you. I always feel really scared telling people we planned to just have one. Like I am selfish or ungrateful. But I will tell the truth if asked
Awww this is so sweet! I have to be honest, pregnancy and birth were a breeze for me too, however I am done. I chose a little sarcastic view on mine (plus I think I drank too much wine LOL) Love your list! You are totally right too, the beauty of being free is choice!!!

No list for me this week but I’ll be around checking out the others. And yours was perfectly said. Playground Mommies can pass so much judgement. And there is always so much assumption.
That photo is beautiful. Both of you look right at home.

The freedom of choice – I like that. You’ve made such a beautiful baby, you should make more; but that’s not a good reason to make more babies actually. Don’t mind me. Love that picture

Babies…gotta love a snuggly baby, and that picture is just bliss incarnate. Because I have a cold I’m a tad grumpy today, so I’m going to toss this little bit into the mix: aren’t we all lucky that we HAVE a choice about whether or not to have more babies? And that we’re able to have this online discussion without stomping on what each of us has decided for ourselves and our families? One of the wonderful things that listicles provides us (thank you Stasha!) is this civilized space…would that the rest of the country/world were capable of equally compassionate discussions when it came time to talk about what women want to do with their bodies.
And now I will climb down off my soapbox…

You are so amazingly beautiful, Stasha! I love that picture.
And your list is perfect – a great reminder that each of us have our own thoughts and reasons for this very personal decision, and there’s no right or wrong. I think I finally feel done (certainly right now), but I felt that way after the second, so I can’t rule it out

#10 rocks.
you commented on someone’s comment about thinking that others might view wanting only one child as being selfish… to that i say, if knowing and loving the fact that i am incredibly blessed with my one makes me selfish, than hot damn am i the most selfish person on the planet.

Great list! How awesome that your pregnancy was a breeze. Mine was great up until the last trimester. I ended up with oodles of complications and landed in the hospital on bedrest for get this….9 weeks. It sucks, but thankfully my boy was perfect. It was SO worth it!
I agree, no trouble is not worth it when it comes to our children. I love how great you are at this entertaining planning. You should consider writing a book. I was reading it and it just made sense.

I totally had feeling that’s exactly what you were gonna say. Because your little guy is already 4 (although my kids are 5 1/2 years apart) and I’ve just never gotten the feeling that you were going to add to your family any time soon.

Love the last one. I feel the same way: I would love to have more kids, but if for some reason it doesn’t work out for us I really couldn’t ask for a sweeter little girl. Our family is perfect just the way it is, like yours. Adorable picture!

Oh my, your wreath is awesome. And why are you to shy to link your list of ten with me? You know we heart you here!!
Oh I loved that your birth story went so well and that you want “more babies + 1″. The reason I didn’t do this one was because I’m so biased in favor of everybody having more kids – I would if I could but I can’t – I am very envious of Michelle Duggar with her 20th baby. !
Loved your list.

I had high blood pressure when I was pregnant, so I spent 4 months on bedrest, but I didn’t feel like that was rough for me. I LOVED being pregnant, and Noah latched on at 20 minutes old and I LOVED breast feeding. I DO wish I could do all of that again.
There is great happiness and accomplishment in caring for a baby. I agree.

Thank you Rachel. I am not quite Zen, but I am happy. And truth be told I started off in a mess and learned how to except nothing but happiness along the way.
Your list boils the whole truth down to ten items–you just know when it’s right. Our family is just right, and I think that probably everyone who has made a conscious decision about how many children to have has it just right. It’s not a checklist–it’s a feeling.
I also love the photo–captures your love (and your freckles, which are adorable)

I think if I’d been so fortunate, I’d have worried that if I had a second, I’d be tempting fate! It must be nice to feel all set and done. I bet you get a lot of annoying questions about whether you’re planning to have another, though!
