Monday Listicles

Listicles make your Monday just a tad better.

And you can quote me on that. Thanks to Bits of Bee, who chose a great topic for this week’s list, I have been in quote heaven. I love using other people’s wisdom and wit to express my thoughts and opinions. I wrote a list of 10 Churchill quotes ( my favorite by him is “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”), then list of 10 blog quotes I wish I wrote ( like “Facebook: your new electronic mother”- by Mannahatta Mamma) and 10 best Little J quotes. But in the end I decided to share with you something I grew up with: Loesje. My home town has a very active Loesje group. They spread thoughts and opinions on life and current events by posters they hang around town. They are thought provoking and as a teenager I loved walking around the city spotting them and quoting them. So I went through their archives and picked my favorite ones from the past few years.

I am so excited because @AdoTheMomalog is deciding what to write a list about next week. Surely you all know her: she is funny, talented and cares about our children’s future. She always visits your list and leaves the best comments. And she was a runner up on Lovelinks (only because I could not vote over and over again, but they say cheating is no good) which practically makes her a celebrity. So your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find her blog and and see what is the topic next week.

And now, quote away!

Make a list, check it twice, link it up. Read others. Have fun!

Love all these! I’ll be late to Monday Listicles this week. I stopped by looking for the prompt and couldn’t find it before it was time for me to ramble write my post for tomorrow. What a nice thing you said about lovelinks making a celebrity out of Ado. So very nice, thank you.

I love these! The “friend in real life” one is my favorite πŸ™‚ That is awesome that your town made posters and hung them up…very thought provoking. I think I’d like to visit there.

First, I’m totally sorry because I didn’t realize there was a prompt for this – I thought it was just a list of 10 things. Feel free to delete my linkup. My apologies! Those posters are great. I love the Google one. I want it for my bedroom!

Prompts are a suggestion not a rule!! Off to read your list πŸ™‚

Love these quotes – especially on board with the boredom as impetus for creativity notion! Ado is bound to have something fun to work on for next week. Off to check it out….

There is so many fun and inspiring folk out there. They were kind of bloggers, before blogs and while printing was still popular πŸ˜‰ love Miss Sassy quotes, you should dedicate a page to them on your blog to keep it permanently there!!

Thank you. Your list is spectacular! You come up with the neatest concepts!

Can you believe they have been around since 1989. Shows my age… Yur list is great and I love the idea of having folder to store them. I bookmarked quote garden on my phone and read a few every day.

Sad but true ha? You have a giveaway?! Which rock am I under. Must dash over!!

Cute ha? When I grow up I will come up with something rather clever too. Maybe I will vlog it πŸ˜‰

Love these posters! And love what “underground” art can do for our minds and perspectives. Until I saw these, I hadn’t realized that one of the things I miss about NYC is the constant commentary written on sidewalks, billboards, buildings…I suppose the graffiti here may be also politically provocative (although I doubt it) … but of course, it’s in Arabic and I can’t read it!

Thanks for these. I think my fave is about why put people in closets in the first place. Good question. Is Loesje a collective, a person (like Banksy), or the word for this kind of commentary?

I know, I read so much on line but going through their archives( I caught up on the Slovenian ones too) made me realize how much I miss a written word. You know, in print. Must be why you still get NYer delivered to your door (pigeonhole)?

    1. Twitter: NorthWestMommy
Isn’t it true. There was a mom I knew befriended me on FB but avoided saying hi to me at the grocery store. People can be strange…

  6. Stasha, I LOVE these posters and am so excited to have discovered Loesje thanks to you! I have been pouring over the website and it is right up my alley of interest! I’d much rather read through their posters and ponder their meaning than waste the evening watching something on TV πŸ™‚ Yay!! I love the ideas for all of your lists. Before I made mine, I tried to use the little brain power I have left to quote famous lines in literature about motherhood, but that turned out to be too challenging! This was a fun topic and I love seeing/reading what you did with it!

Isn’t it just? Remember posters about upcoming theathre plays or artist concerts? Do those still exist?! They used to bring so much wishing and wAnting to me…

I love these! They are so cleverly funny! I can’t even pick a favorite…well, ok, maybe one or two like about not being able to find myself on Google, and endless conflicts for sustainable energy… Totally hilarious!

  8. I haven’t heard of Loesje either, but it must have been so much fun for to you to spot the posters and read the quotes. Great list! I especially love the google and boredom ones.
P.s. I didn’t follow the prompt again this week (though I love them and this was a great one) as I had my giveaway planned- but I look forward to more prompts-especially funny lady Ado’s πŸ™‚

You are always welcome to post a list of anything you like. In fact if you ever find a shopping list you want to share just in time for Christmas, link it up and I will email it to your husband πŸ™‚
Loesje is very active in Warsaw.

Tehehe, love these – especially adding the friend in real life!

Excited to link up for the first time this week. I love making lists, so this meme is perfect. Thanks for hosting!

The childhood boredom made me laugh, my kids told me they were bored ONCE, then I found something for them to do and trust me it wasn’t what they had in mind! Recently my nephew told my daughter he was bored and she dared him to say it to me…bet he doesn’t do that again lol…

I saved one of my fave quotes just for you, Stasha:

β€œI had rescued the moment by using my camera and in that way had found how to stop time and
hold it. No one could take that image away from me because I owned it.”

  12. Ok,WTF is this Loesje stuff and how come I never heard of it before??!! Must check it out. My fave is “I love mum” but also “I got lost.” Wow. Love that idea, am going to go check out your link.
BTW, thank you for picking me to choose the topic – so flattered! – and that was very sweet of you to write all that stuff about me nearly being a celebrity and everything, especially since Klout somehow believes me to be a frigging Specialist. Hmph! (-:
Topic is up, hope you like it!
    Bye for now…A.

I do absolutely love the topic. Hope I have enough cool things to share about my family tree otherwise I am dipping into Husbands.
I think Ella and My son might be Loesje protagonist one day. If things are still in print when they are in collage that is…
Never mind that Klout, they shave a point of my score every morning. Don’t they know I am by far the most influential blogger in my town. So what if we only have one Mc D’s, I believe there are more then a thousand people living here!!

Yes, that one is rather profound, isn’t it. Your blog is lovely, not to mention the great life you have and share there! Very happy we bumped into you, welcome to the Listicle gang.

So finally took the time to figure out how these lists work… which is so surprising because lists and I have a love affair. I will likely play with this topic this week, even though it’s not Monday. But I’ll def be in next week!

Anytime Jamie, link up a list following a prompt or any other list you can think of. We have had photos, VLOGS, comics… Nobody has sang one out yet though πŸ˜‰

Hey, I’m surprised you did not use your “Little J quotes” at the top bar of your site.

I was thinking about it. You know I have a bunch of new ones to add to that page but never come around to it. That and updating my blogroll are my two sins.

You are not old-fashioned, but rather classy. No I cannot turn classy into adverb, that would be a step to far…

  15. Those were all great – but my fav was the one about stimulating childhood creativity by a healthy dose of boredom! LOL…although when my kids are bored they just tend to be up my you-know-what! #notfair! ;^)

Thanks for letting me link-up 2 day’s late!

  16. I finally made it. I was a little sick and very tired. But I am getting better now.
I really enjoyed your quotes, very clever ones. Love the real friend one.
    Have a great week.
