Monday Listicles

This weeks top ten comes from Jessica at My time as mom. She is my daily read and twitter pal. Check out her blog to see why. If you would like to follow her lead and be my featured list maker, HERE is how.

10 reasons why I almost stayed in Denver, Colorado

where I vacationed without my kids for 4 days

1. Walked down the street without having to hold, push, or keep track of children.

2. Used both hands to eat my meal without it being cold.

3. Slept all night without being kicked or scratched by a toddler.

4. Car doors were opened for me (by valet and my husband).

5. I didn’t have to cook, clean, or make the bed.

6. Watched a whole movie without having to press pause.

7. There were no tears when I wanted to use my iPhone or iPad.

8. I was able to read – books and magazines. With no interruptions.

9. No demands for snack, juice, or potty.

10.It was quiet.

But, I came home.

Because I love my bratty little kids and I know I would have missed them.

Eventually.

Yes, you would have missed them eventually. Who doesn’t like getting kicked in the middle of the night? 😉 It definitely is fun to go on a trip and revisit all the things we miss that we had pre-kids.

I think I need a no kid vacation once a year (at least) so I can remember life before kids.

I miss doing #2..heck I miss doing all of those! But, I’d gladly give it all up for my kids. It’s nice to take a break like that once in awhile though.

It is nice to have a break every once in awhile but I would never give up my kids for this to happen all the time.

We always come home, don’t we? What a shame! Just kidding. Motherhood has a way of biting you in the butt with love!

I like how you put that. Biting you in the butt with love. I might even have to steal that line from you.

Eventually! Made me chuckle! We don’t have kids, but sometimes I think the very spoiled dog is doing a great job of filling the spot at the moment.

I was up all night cause THE DOG didn’t have enough room on my pillow!

Do you have any pictures from your trip?

    Reading? What is reading?

It is what you do with google reader every morning, surely.

      • Jessica June 13, 2011 at 09:54 #

You have to go on vacation with no kids to learn what reading really is.

  15. KLZ June 13, 2011 at 09:35 #

What are you saying! Reading a book is best when you sneak in a paragraph at a time between tantrums. Isn’t it?

    • Jessica June 13, 2011 at 09:53 #

      Twitter: Mytimeasmom
Ha! Only if it is a boring book.

  16. Leighann June 13, 2011 at 10:10 #

Sweet Lord you watched a movie?
I don’t know when the last time is that I watched a movie.
    What movie?
I’m all kinds of jealous over here!
    Also?
    Love this blog.

  18. Melissa June 13, 2011 at 12:46 #

I have no kids, but I think it would be nice to take a very short vacation (one or two nights) without my husband. To just be able to do whatever I wanted and on my time schedule.

GREAT LIST! I don’t have kids, but spend enough time with them as a nanny – and those are my favorite parts of going home at the end of the day!!

I see your a NW momma, where are you located? I’m in Seattle 😀

    Popping over from Jessica’s blog!!

LOL list! Amazing, though, how we always end up missing our bratty kids, isn’t it? Being able to eat a meal uninterrupted is something I really long for….I’m getting 2 nights kid free in July in TN – so looking forward to it! (:

I hear ya–being able to take care of just yourself if pretty tempting. But someone not as satisfying. Glad you came home!
