Just the three of us

So my son has an imaginary friend, Simmy Sim.

He appeared out of nowhere a few weeks ago. He hung out with us for a couple of days and then left quietly. Now he is back and it is starting to look like he is here to stay. According to Little J his mom allowed Simmy Sim to sleepover. Everyday except Saturday. I know, I wondered why Saturday myself…

Simmy Sim is a boy of mystery. Rumor has it he is five years old, but sometimes he is hundred. Little J told me today on a walk Simmy Sim can reach up to the tallest tree. I honestly don’t know how he fits into Little J’s twin bed then. It must be all the jelly beans he eats that help him grow so tall. Initially his eyes were orange, but now they have turned green like Daddy’s. He has a dog too.

He also wants to watch another episode of Mighty Machines after I specifically said there will only be one played.

He likes to eat his dessert before dinner.

He insists on staying home when it is time to walk the dog.

He wants me to read another book before bedtime.

And Simmy Sim thinks Little J and him should sleep in my bed.

So last night we all snuggled up for two books before bedtime, in my bed. Because our house guest’s wishes are my commands. I was reading about Granny Gomez and her pig Jigsaw when all of the sudden Little J screamed in sheer panic.

Turns out I was laying on Simmy Sim.

How tall does that make me?!

He is too darn cute. I’ve never actually met anyone who has imaginary friends. My girls talk to their toys, but have never shown any instance where they thought some invisible playmate was around… Has he drawn this Simmy Sim friend yet? I’m interested to “see” what he looks like!

I asked him this morning. Will tweet you the photo. And thank you Janice, my kid is a character, no doubt.

He has such an imagination. I hope Simmy Sim picks up after himself at your house.

That last part really made me laugh!

Looks like you might as well sign the adoption papers for Simmy Sim.

Mighty machines are cool. But what is up with those trucks always sporting the most bizarre accents?!

I love the details of this story! Your son is so imaginative, definitely keeping you on your toes. My girls haven’t invented an imaginary friend and I wonder if they will. I agree with Jessica, I hope Simmy Sim isn’t too messy and cleans up after himself. Does your son teach him how to be a good guest? :)

You really must be more careful not to sit on your house guests, Dear. If you squish your son’s friend, you will have to give him years of therapy to get over it. My son had Kellogg for about 6 month, but Kellogg was actually quite naughty. I was glad when he went back where ever he came from.

I remember you mentioning Kellogg. Simmy Sim just seems to chose things I previously vetoed. How convinient. Then again, you are right-I sit on him so no wonder he is naughty sometimes.

I already liked Simmy Sim when he had orange eyes. But now that he has green eyes…like me…I like him even more! I don’t blame Little J for getting upset. You really shouldn’t squish your house guests. It’s considered rude in many cultures.

Indeed it is. I hope all you green eyed ‘monsters’ can forgive and forget my slip up. Or sit-down.

I think Simmy Sim could be best friends with *my* invisible friend from when I was a child – Cousin It. (-: I do not think my mom was ever fool enough to sit on him though. (-:
